According to unconfirmed reports, the meteorite was intercepted by an air defense unit at the Urzhumka settlement near Chelyabinsk. A missile salvo blew the meteorite to pieces at an altitude of 20 kilometers, local newspaper Znak reports quoting a source in the military.Regnum news agency quoted a military source who claimed that the vapor condensation trail of the meteorite speaks to the fact that the meteorite was intercepted by air defenses.Army units found three meteorite debris impact sites, two of which are in an area near Chebarkul Lake, west of Chelyabinsk. The third site was found some 80 kilometers further to the northwest, near the town of Zlatoust.Russian space agency Roskosmos has confirmed the object that crashed in the Chelyabinsk region is a meteorite: “According to preliminary estimates, this space object is of non-technogenic origin and qualifies as a meteorite. Fugitive LAPD cop Christopher Dorner 'in shoot-out with California authorities'Fugitive former US cop Christopher Dorner is tonight believed to be barricaded in a cabin where he was allegedly involved in a gunfight with police near a Californian ski resort where his burnt-out truck was found.Authorities said Dorner was apparently holed up inside a cabin in a rural area about 30 miles from the Big Bear ski resort, two hours' drive east of Los Angeles.At least two officers had been shot and wounded in the gunfight.The confrontation is believed to have started when a suspect believed to be Dorner robbed a home in the same area.The Riverside County Sheriff's Department issued an advisory saying Dorner was possibly involved in a robbery in which a couple were tied up and the suspect fled in a truck. The AP reported that one of the victims was able to escape and raise the alarm.The suspect then fled to a cabin in the woods, which was surrounded by police, and the gunfight ensued.

A UFO was filmed by a pilot flying over Costa Rica, original video was posted to Youtube on January 30th, 2013. The silver, rounded orb flew past his airplane at an incredible rate of speed. The pilot was filming out the window with an iPhone when the silver orb whizzed past. But, he claims, he did not notice it at the time.A closeup of the saucer-like object doesn't help much to identify what it is, but it doesn't resemble any known aircraft. And it cannot be a bird as it is much too large and flying much too fast. The UFO is rounded, silvery and doesn't appear to have wings. It's not showing aviation running lights and there is no exhaust plume exiting the tail. The craft does resemble many other unidentified flying objects filmed in the area in the last few years, which is considered to be a hotspot for sightings.

Mexican TV revealed the almost unbelievable story - in 2007, a baby 'alien' was found alive by a farmer in Mexico. He drowned it in a ditch out of fear, and now scientists have finally been able to announce the results of their tests on this sinister-looking carcass. At the end of last year the farmer, Marao Lopez, handed the corpse over to university scientists who carried out DNA tests and scans.He claimed that it took him three attempts to drown the creature and he had to hold it underwater for hours.
